What's it like to work with Pilar?
During private therapy sessions, Pilar comes to your home. Parents (especially when their kids are very little) are welcome and encouraged to stay in the room the whole time. Not only are home visits more convenient for your family, but you get to see how Pilar works firsthand, so you can then model her methods with your child independently. Because play is how kids learn, Pilar will observe how your child interacts with his/her toys and immediate environment, and suggest games or other ways of playing that teach specific language skills. She may also give the child and his/her family ‘homework assignments’—for example, a play routine, list of words to practice or books to read together for children working on individual speech sounds.
